My Dear America:
Usually when a new low in Political Campaigning is reached these days generally the culprit is Donald Trump.
It isn't the fact that Donald Trump isn't reaching new lows in statements and behaviors every day.
He is, of course. But we have all become so numb to his constant new lows that it takes a lot for something to appear to be worse than Trump.
But it seems to have happened in Ohio where Republican, Vivek Ramaswamy has run an ad on Television featuring the mother of his Democratic Rival for the Governorship, Dr. Amy Acton denigrating her daughter as a "Liar". Acton's mother appears to be a poor haggard old woman who in another situation might be pulling at the heartstrings of Ohio Voters. But such is not the case right now.
There is no attempt in Vivekswamy's ad to present any context of why Acton's mother would verbally attack her daughter in a television ad at this point in the Governor's race.
What has been revealed about Acton's Mother, however, is that she is not the sweet aging caring mom that Vivekswamy's ad presents her to be. Reporters digging into the ad and Acton's background have found that when Acton was 11 or 12 and under the age of consent she was removed from her mother's home due to allegations that Acton's stepfather was repeatedly sexually assaulting the woman who is now running for Governor of Ohio.
Inexplicably both Ramaswamy and Vice President J.D.Vance have doubled down on defending Ramaswamy's horrible ad. There have also been a number of Republicans who have expressed disgust with the ad and it is difficult to see how this reckless and insensitive ad is going to help Ramaswamy win the governorship. There already seems to be increasing support for Doctor Amy Acton in the polls and with regard to donations to her campaign.
Nikki Haley, who debated Ramaswamy in the early days of the 2024 Republican campaign for President has called him a "Bad Guy." I recall seeing that debate and Ramaswamy struck me at the time as being a very arrogant and entitled phony who seemed to attack every one of his debate partners in a vicious manner that reminded me of Donald Trump, who was not at that particular debate. It struck me that Ramaswamy in that debate was likely campaigning to be considered for Vice President if Donald Trump ended up being the Presidential Candidate.
Although Donald Trump has not, as yet commented on Ramaswamy's controversial ad he would do well to stay away from it like its a dead skunk in the middle of the road.
It seems unlikely that JD Vance has not at least discussed this Ramaswamy ad situation with Trump and obtained the President's approval regarding Vance's support of the ad prior to JD commenting on it.
Some of the women on "The View" were horrified by the Ramaswamy ad and seemed to feel as though JD Vance may have lost any chance to be successful in the 2028 election.
Time will tell about JD Vance's chances in 2028.
Certainly, It seems unlikely that Vivek Ramaswamy will ever be back on a campaign trail ever again after this election.
We can all hope that this vampire will never rise again in American Politics.
