Give Em Hell Barry

Friday, November 9th, 2012

My Dear America:

Just days after his re election to the Presidency of the United States President Barack Obama had a News Conference at the White House today and made it crystal clear to all gathered there and all who would see and hear the sound bytes from the News conference that it is a new day in American politics.

According to the President the people of the United States have spoken through their votes and it is time to start getting things done in Washington.  Although the President remained as cordial and pleasant as he normally is he made it clear to all who might hear him that it is time to start getting things done in Washington before the Republicans drive us over the so called Fiscal Cliff.

There were a few very important things that the President said today.  He indicated that a bill has already been passed by the Senate to provide tax relief for those making under 250 Thousand Dollars a year.  As if to emphasize his readiness to sign that bill into law if it is passed by the House of Representatives, the President pulled a pen out of his pocket and stated that he had that pen all ready to sign that bill as soon as it was passed by the House and delivered to him.

He said that he is willing to negotiate with members of the Senate and House and is willing to compromise on many of the items on his agenda.

He made it clear, however, that there was one issue that he was unwilling to agree to.  He is unwilling, he said, to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the middle class.  He is, he said, only willing to seek fiscal responsibility by transferring some of the fiscal burden to those making over 250 Thousand Dollars a year.

The President obviously feels that it is time to be fiscally responsible and is presently in a strong position by standing out front of this issue right now and showing his willingness to meet with Leaders of Congress next week to get the ball rolling.

Good for you, Mr. President.

Sincerely Yours

Jerry Gallagher
