Lessons To Be Learned At Columbia University And Elsewhere

 Saturday, April 27th  2024

My Dear America:

There were many lessons to be learned this week in America and Elsewhere throughout the world.  There was a lot to pay attention to certainly in New York City.

This week Donald Trump with a permanently angry face showing at all times endured sitting through the opening arguments and initial witnesses at his New York Hush Money Trial.  One morning Trump Weirdly wished his wife, Melania, a "Happy Birthday" Greeting from outside of the Courtroom where he was being tried for paying off a Porn Star and a Playboy Model who he had sex with. Very Weird, indeed.

Talk about Weird.  How about a man named David PECKER testifying one would assume truthfully under a grant of immunity admitting that he willingly conspired with Michael Cohen and Donald Trump to pay off Playboy Model, Karen McDougal 150 thousand dollars to keep her quiet in order to assist his friend Donald Trump to win the Election for President of the United States.  Not only that but PECKER also followed through on his promise to write glowingly positive stories in his Shameless Gossip Filled Checkout Counter Rag Magazines about Donald Trump and Terribly Unfair and Mostly Untrue stories about Hillary Clinton and other opponents of Donald Trump in the 2016 Election.

In other news this week The Supreme Court finally got around to fitting into their busy schedule the case of whether or not to approve or disapprove of Donald Trump's Lawyers claim that everything that Donald Trump did on or Prior to January Sixth of 2021 was legal and that he should not be tried by Jack Smith and the United States Justice Department Lawyers because Trump as President had "Absolute Immunity from Prosecution."  This Certainly should have been an Open and Shut Case in which this Bullshit Charge of Absolute Immunity should have been immediately thrown out by the members of the Supreme Court.

But No, It wasn't.  All of the Right Wing Nuts on the Court chose instead to dither and discuss all kinds of irrelevant scenarios around this case but never really approach the genuine crux of the case:  Immunity.  Does Trump have it or does he not have it.  All of the discussion by Rachel Maddow and her MSNBC Panel of Hosts was regarding how astonished they all were that this Immunity Red Herring had gotten this far and was almost certainly going to lead to delay after delay in the Jack Smith January Sixth Case and certainly if Trump was elected in November this Case would most certainly never see the legal light of day.

And even more depressing than that, as if that was not depressing enough, the latest polling was showing that Even after years of Outstanding Work and Incredible Progress by the Biden Administration his poll numbers were down in many of the Battleground States that he needs to win in order to continue in the White House for another term.

But on the Positive Side we now see President Biden having signed the bill that House Speaker, Mike Johnson finally brought up for a vote which passed through the House and Senate like we knew it would and with Biden's signature finally Ukraine will get a new lease on life and liberty in their Democratic Country.  Israel will also be a beneficiary of the bill.

Speaking of Israel Have you seen what is going on at Columbia University and many other University and College Campuses around the country. I have a Granddaughter who is graduating soon from College and whose campus I will be visiting to Celebrate her Graduation. I am not pleased to see this unrest on College Campuses.

At Columbia, Harvard, USC and many other campuses around the country Students are demonstrating in favor of the residents of Gaza and against Israel.  I share their concerns about the residents of Gaza.  What has happened in Gaza is horrible but unfortunately it is a very complicated and very difficult situation to understand and has been for a long time now.

Many Students seem to be angry at President Biden because he has, since the Outrageous Hamas Executed Bloodbath on October 7th, 2023 in Israel, pledged Support for the Israeli government.  Biden is now in what could genuinely be described as between a rock and a hard place because Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has continually shafted and disrespected the American President and no doubt will in the coming months express his support for Donald Trump for President in the Upcoming American Election.  What Students need to understand is that American Presidents have supported the state of Israel since its emergence as a Homeland for Homeless Jews escaping from Intolerance and Gas Chambers elsewhere from its earliest beginnings after World War II.

Israel and the Entire Middle East has been a very difficult situation to understand for a long time now.  I am not sure anyone who is not Jewish can really understand what Israel means to Jews of the World and how terrible Jews have been treated for so long throughout the History of the World.

It seems to me that young people who have jumped on the Anti Jewish Bandwagon these days might not be informed enough about the history of Anti Semitism to really understand what they are doing and why they are doing it.

For those Good Intentioned Young people I would ask them to consider the following:

Yes, I Agree, The State of Israel's Government has certainly gone overboard in their reaction to Hamas in Gaza.

That being said, The Israeli Government was reacting in Gaza to the astonishingly brutal attacks that the state of Israel and the people of Israel endured on October 7th of 2023.

On that day in a coordinated attack by Hamas on Innocent Civilians in their homes and at a Young peoples Concert, as well as IDF Soldiers the brutality and savagery of Hamas was truly extraordinary. Women were raped.  Bodies were mutilated including heads being cut off. Children were killed as well as adults. Innocent individuals were not only killed but many were kidnapped, as well.  Although some Hostages have returned to their homes many hostages still remain unaccounted for and their safe return seems to be lower on the priority list than destroying Hamas and in the process destroying Gaza.

The Monstrous day of Hamas Barbarism was the catalyst for Israel's response to Hamas in Gaza.  Clearly the Israelis were pissed off when they finally entered Gaza and exacted their revenge not only on Hamas but on Civilian Residents of Gaza.  Yes, they were Brutal and continue to be and they should clearly end their siege of Gaza and make plans for what comes next.

Yes, The Israelis went overboard.  That is certainly true and it is also true that prior to the war Benjamin Netanyahu was going overboard with his government and, like his buddy, Donald Trump in America, Netanyahu was also trying to destroy the power  of a Supreme Court that was already pursuing Netanyahu and threatening him with possible imprisonment.  The truth is, as far as I can see, that Netanyahu is not incentivized to stop the war in Gaza.  When the war in Gaza is over it is most probably over for Netanyahu in power and quite possibly he will be going to jail for the crimes he committed long before the recent war in Gaza.

But I would ask my College and University Student friends to remember the long and difficult history of the Jewish people in Israel and before Israel. Antisemitism is not a new Concept.

I don't know why so many people seem to hate Jews.  I suspect that many people are jealous of Jewish people.  They are notoriously smart. highly educated, highly motivated, extremely talented and artistic people who tend to rise to the heights of their professions in many cases.

The Truth is that Antisemitism seems to be like a cancer that can be virtually extinguished in one spot only to come back strong in another spot.  Jews are one of the K's of the Ku Klux Klan.  Koons, Katholics and Kikes.  Well, whoever said that Klan members can spell.

I have written in earlier Blogposts and Podcast Episodes about some of the Jewish people I have interacted with in my life whose friendships and talents I revere.  I feel very badly for those good and innocent people who are being abused and attacked on College and University Campuses all over our country.  I implore those who are attacking innocent Jews just for being Jewish to read a book or two or check out on You Tube about what has happened to the Jews in Eastern Europe during World War II.  It is a Sad and disturbing story, indeed.

Anyway, Even if you are angry with what is happening in Gaza don't assume that your classmates are guilty of war crimes.  Chances are that they are just as disturbed about Gaza as you are.

Give the Jews a break.  They didn't start this battle.  Hamas did.  I certainly don't agree with how Israel is going about striking back at Hamas but I can't blame them for not wanting to allow Hamas to come back and and harm Israelis again which Hamas has promised to do.

Although there is certainly legitimacy in demonstrating for better treatment for Gaza citizens there is not a legitimacy for some of the signs demonstrators promote calling for Jews to

"Go Back To Poland" or signs promoting "Genocide" for the Jews.

Please, if you are demonstrating to promote good things happening in Gaza remember your Jewish Classmates did not start this war with Gaza and I doubt if in your support for Gaza that you want to legitimize the Brutal Hamas Bloodbath that got This terrible War Started.

Before you start promoting groups like Hamas please calm down and learn something about what these groups truly advocate.  You may find out that your support for groups like Hamas is Tremendously Misguided.

Sincerely Yours

Jerry Gallagher
