My Dear America:
Certainly I don't have to tell you, America, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has had a difficult and somewhat checkered past.
I am old enough to remember some of the extremely disturbing and unethical, if not criminal, activities that went on in the Bureau when it was run by the incredibly controversial and powerful FBI Director, J. Edgar Hoover.
I am also old enough to remember when the man who replaced J. Edgar Hoover as the Director of the FBI, L. Patrick Gray, was drawn into obstructing Justice by Richard Nixon and his White House Associates in Nixon's botched attempt to cover up The Watergate Affair.
Clearly The Federal Bureau of Investigation is not an American Agency that has been forever blameless and correct in all of its decisions and all of its actions.
What is happening now, however, in the United States Government is unprecedented and clearly highly unethical, if not illegal.
Donald Trump, even before his Inauguration, was dismissing information provided from nearly every American Intelligence Organization including the FBI warning him that Russia, and in particular, Vladimir Putin, had clearly been involved in the 2016 American Presidential Election.
Instead of taking actions against Russia and Putin, Donald Trump instead clearly and brazenly obstructed Justice by firing his FBI Director, James Comey. Not only did Trump fire Comey but he bragged on his NBC Television Interview with News Anchor, Lester Holt, shortly thereafter that he fired Comey because of the FBI Russia investigation. Also one day after firing Comey, Trump met with top Russian Officials in the White House Oval Office. Those officials included Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov and Russia's Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak. Not only was Kislyak the Russian Ambassador but he was well known to American Intelligence Agencies as Russia's Top Spy in the United States.
Although American Photographers were not allowed in the Oval Office Meeting, Russian "Tass" Photographers took many pictures and put them on the World Wide Web for all to see.
In addition to passing on highly classified information to the Russians in the Oval Office that had been obtained obtained through another country's intelligence agency and endangered intelligence officers and contacts, Trump discussed his firing of James Comey with the Russians telling them in his conversation that Comey was a real "Nut Job." Trump also informed the Russian Oval Office Guests that with Comey gone Trump was now relieved of pressure from the Russia Investigation.
Clearly Comey's firing has not relieved any pressure on Donald Trump.
Now, over a year after Trump began his term in office we have seen and continue to see that Trump, along with his Republican allies in Congress, among other outrages, are continually trying to denigrate and discredit the FBI.
After Watergate, Congress, the Courts and the Presidents have made significant efforts to learn from the Nightmares of Watergate how to control the excesses of Government Agencies including the FBI.
What we are seeing presently is an ever quicker erosion of principles in the Federal Government and particularly in Congress and the Presidency.
It is clearly time for the American Citizens to rise up and tell their elected officials
WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.
Unfortunately 2016 was a year in which the outrageous and bizarre seem to have become normal in America.
It is not normal in America to sit back and relax as our Democratic way of life comes to an end.
It is, instead, a time to get ready to go to the polls in America and begin to legally and sanely at the ballot box begin to throw out the trash. You, America need to be cleaned up and revitalized and we, Americans, need to help you to really make you, America truly great again. We don't need phony slogans we need every true American voter to get out and vote to take your country back.
It Can Happen.
It Will Happen.
It Needs to happen this year.
