Thanks to Turner Classic Movies For Another Great Memorial Day Weekend War Movie Marathon

My Dear America:

I didn't watch them all but I watched quite a few of the Incredible array of War Movies that Turner Classic Movies featured on their Movie Channel over the past  Memorial Day Weekend War Movie Marathon.

As usual TCM brought out the Big War Movie Gems Like the Academy Award winning Blockbusters including "The Bridge On The River Kwai", "The Dirty Dozen" and "The Great Escape" along with many other Civil War, World War I and World War II Movies.

I must admit that watching these classic Films filled me with a burning feeling of Patriotism and love for my country but now after watching a weekend of films about Americans fighting against Nazis and Facists, as well as against each other it fills me with a kind of dread about what we are currently experiencing in our country at the present time.  Although our predecessors fought hard to keep Nazi's from taking over the world we seem to be currently in the early days of a Full Blown Nazi takeover of the United States of America which could unfortunately lead to a Nazi takeover of the World.  

How in the hell did this happen?

How did we allow ourselves to get bamboozled by a Con Man Dictator Loving Jerk who is now in the throes of Dementia as he supervises the denigration and dismantling of our Government, while the Republican Party refuses to accept the fact that they have hitched their bandwagon to a Super Corrupt Madman who is quickly going to take them down with the rest of us.

I want to personally thank TCM for giving us at least a weekend of Patriotic Fervor while we watched their carefully selected movies that showed us just how brave and dedicated our Military Heroes were back in the day.  They always seem to feature Great Films but it seems as though they really outdo themselves on Memorial Day Weekend.

It is difficult for me to fathom how we have come so far down the rabbit hole so fast.

Last year at this time Donald Trump was being convicted of 34 Felonies in a New York City Courtroom and he was also facing several Federal Charges which should have put him in jail, rather than in the White House.  

Although Trump's former Right Hand Man, Michael Cohen went to jail for over two years for the same crime that Trump was convicted for, Trump, by getting elected, escaped jail time for that crime.

Also after he was elected his Federal Charges disappeared and the Supreme Court not only gave Trump a get out of jail card, they gave him a Do Anything You Want Card.

Most of the heroes who saved us from the Nazi Menace are gone now.  Many died in countries where they fought and many have died of old age.  We only wish that more of them were still around to inspire us to fight like hell to keep our country from becoming a Dictatorship with little resemblance to the Patriotic Democracy in which we used to live.

On June 14th we will have the opportunity to join in a Country Wide Demonstration to show that we are not satisfied to live under Authoritarian Control.

Our Fallen Heroes gave their lives for Liberty and Justice For All.

On June 14th and every other day of our lives It is time for the rest of us to give our support for Democracy and for Democrats because at this point  what is left of the Republican Party Seems to be a lost cause.

The Good News Is We Have A New American Pope Named Leo IV

 

In addition to writing my Blog since 2008 I began during 2020 to also begin a Podcast called "Podcast For A Lost Nation" in which I repeated my Blog Posts as Podcast Episodes.  The reason I started doing this was because I was worried that Donald Trump might be re elected in 2020.  He was not re elected at that time but I continued my Podcasts anyway.  Although My listeners have been few in number (Mostly Friends and Family Members) they have let me know how much they appreciated the Podcasts and I have always, up to now, included a Podcast every time I Posted on my Blog ever since 2020.

Unfortunately, I must apologize to my Podcast listeners  for not including this Blog Post as a Podcast Episode.  I had set up my Podcast on Spotify and I want to say that I have appreciated the fact that Spotify is a fantastic resource for many things including Podcasting.  I only had one previous problem when my Podcast was unavailable for a short period of time which was easily resolved through Spotify Support.

Recently, however, I have had some problems with my "Spotify For Podcasters" account page which up to now I have not been able to access and resolve with Spotify Support. I am hopeful that this problem can possibly be resolved and that I can at that time continue my Podcasting.  

In the meantime, I am going to continue Writing my Blog Posts and Posting them on "Letters To A Lost Nation" with the hope that I can resolve my issues with Spotify and continue recording my Podcast Episodes soon.

With America racing toward Dictatorship at a rapid pace, Israel Turning Gaza into a New Version of A Reverse Holocaust and Ukraine being unfortunately abandoned by its important Western Ally, The United States, there hasn't really been a lot of good news lately.

Certainly it was not good news when Pope Francis passed away recently but he was not a young man and he had left an extremely positive legacy throughout his Guidance of the Catholic Church during his reign as Pope.  

But today as we observe the increasingly vicious treatment of Illegal Immigrants in the United States and elsewhere in the world and await the impending awful results of Donald Trump's Tariff Obsession there has finally been some good news arriving in the world.

The White Smoke from the Vatican Stovepipe has announced that after a very short Conclave a new Pope has been chosen to lead the Catholic Church in what some are calling "The New Dark Ages".

Now I am what some would call a "Fallen Away Catholic".  I was divorced and consequently could not receive Communion for many years.  I only recently found out that this restriction had been done away with by Pope Francis.  The truth is that I have spent more time in my life attending Baptist Church Services than Catholic Masses but I don't want to get too far into that story.  Although I was not attending Catholic Services for many years I was brought up as a Catholic in a Catholic Family and even though I haven't been to Catholic Church in Decades I still think of myself as a Catholic and undoubtedly always will.

So it is with a high dose of Catholic Pride that I find myself thrilled with the selection of Robert Prevost, an American Cardinal and Augustinian Priest who speaks several languages and has an outstanding reputation as a man who is much in the mold of his predecessor who cares deeply about the poor and downtrodden immigrants who have been treated so shamefully by many world leaders, including American President, Donald Trump.

I certainly think that those of us who still believe in treating our fellow human beings with kindness and respect are happy with the Choice of Leo IV as the new Pope.  Indications are that this man of the cloth is the real deal, just like Pope Francis was.  His opening messages to the world are clearly messages which are already angering MAGA and without a doubt will still anger MAGA as time progresses.

MAGA figures like Laura Loomer and others seem to be really upset that Pope Leo is, unlike them, a man who sincerely believes in the teachings of Jesus and is prepared to continue the Immigrant loving and caring for programs of his predecessor.

One of Pope Leo's first actions has been to show his solid support for President Zelensky and the country of Ukraine which continues to try to keep it's Greedy Russian Neighbors off its property.

It will certainly be interesting to watch what happens in the coming Weeks, Months and Years as our complicated world only seems to become even more complicated.  

In the meantime, all of Mankind can benefit from the wisdom of Pope Leo.  Whether or not Mankind will choose to pay attention to the latest Leader of the Catholic Church is an open question.

I certainly hope they will.  

     

One Hundred Days Of White House Horrors - They're Back Again

I can still recall back in the 1970's when President Nixon was being investigated by the "Senate Watergate Committee" on television every day.   The Committee Chairman, Senator Sam Ervin seemed to enjoy referring to what had gone on during the Nixon Administration as "The White House Horrors".  Nixon and his henchmen did truly horrible things but I have to say that in retrospect the Nixon White House Horrors seem to pale in contrast to the "White House Horrors" of only the first hundred days of the Second Administration of Donald Trump.

As we stand at the end of the first hundred days of the Second Coming of Donald Trump I, like most Americans am exhausted and overwhelmed by the actions of Trump and his band of ass kissers.  His Cabinet meetings look and sound like something that should belong in Russia or North Korea.

And By the Way, Russia and North Korea appear to no longer be our enemies.  They are our Allies now, according to the new Trump Doctrine which also threatens our previous Allies including Greenland, Denmark, Canada and Mexico, Ukraine and many of our other previous Allies.

What the hell is going on here?  I don't know.  It all seems very strange to me.

I made the mistake of watching as much as I could stand of the ABC News 100 day Interview with President Trump that was broadcast on Tuesday Night.  I was surprised to find out that it seemed as though whenever Interviewer Terry Moran brought up a problem in America for discussion Donald Trump had the same answer over and over.

"It is all Joe Biden's Fault."

Now I am willing to admit that some things that have gone wrong might actually trace back to the Biden Administration, but at this point, a Hundred days out and God knows how many Executive Orders Donald Trump has Issued maybe it might be time for President Trump to take at least some responsibility for his own actions and in many cases blunders.  

But No, Not when he was talking with Terry Moran.

Everything that is wrong is Biden's Fault.  But Everything good is Trump's doing.

It seems as though every single thing that Donald Trump has done or is planning to do is straight out of the Project 2025 Playbook.  That is strange because it might be remembered that during the Presidential Campaign Donald Trump claimed total ignorance about what was in "Project 2025" and yet everything he has done since his inauguration is straight from that plan.

What is clear, however, and is becoming even clearer each day is that Donald Trump and the group of people who he has gathered around him are incompetent to a level that I don't think we have ever seen before.  To a man or woman, although they are all great at heaping praise on their Fearless Leader, none of them seem to be very good at their jobs and that certainly includes the Fearless Leader, himself. 

At every level in this Government Incompetence abounds.  Nobody seems to know why These people continue to flounder and embarrass themselves in everything they do.

Why is Trump OK with Pete Hegseth leaking Top Secret Battle Plans when others have done hard time for the same obviously criminal conduct?

Why has Elon Musk been set loose upon the Federal Government with the blessing of Donald Trump?

If Musk and DOGE are looking to trim Government and save money why in the hell are we sending both Legal and Illegal Aliens to Salvador Prisons and paying a fortune to the Salvadoran Government to keep them there.?

We Americans have endured a Hundred Days of Hell on Earth in the past Hundred days and quite honestly it doesn't look to me as if our suffering has very much of a possibility of improving any time soon.  

As we continue on our "America First" program we might say Goodbye to our Allies who have been there for us for so many years and say hello to our new Allies Like Russia and Hungary and Saudi Arabia.

Its a New World, People and certainly not a Good one.

But there is hope on the Horizon.  Bernie Sanders is coming back to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Saturday May 3rd at 1:00 PM At the Stabler Arena. At Least for now Some of us have that to look forward to.
